DIALOGUE WITH THE POLICE | NICOLAS JAIS-NIELSEN

This painting was inspired by the demonstrations during the pension reform last year in Paris in 2023.

‌One can guess a demonstrator laying on the ground and still trying to make his point to a policeman by talking also with his hands.

The same Policeman on the left is bending over him trying to reason him.

‌One can find my favorite Colors, red and fluo pink, as a background and the police is by contrast with darker Color’s.

The demonstrator is mainly in green but part of the police is also green pointing at the fact that they are both human beings and could be brothers.

‌There are legs and parts of bodies everywhere and the observer has to try to find his way to identify what belongs to whom.

This gives also an atmosphere of movement and disorder which is typical of a demonstration.
